amberlrhea: bookbat: projectqueer: queerwatch: John Bickford: I suggest going to Target, filling up a cart with stuff you would normally buy there, then abandoning the cart with a sign taped to it that reads: “This is what I would have bought today, except that Target lost my business by contributing to a homophobic politician who wants to take my rights away.” I sincerely think that everyone in America should be forced to work an $8-an-hour cashier/shelf-stocking/food service job at least one month out of every year.  If everyone were conscious of how degrading, mind-numbing, and miserable those jobs can be, we would probably have fewer assholes who think shit like this is funny.  (We also might have more people who have some vague understanding of the corporate chain of command.  Do you really think anyone with any decision-making power is going to hear about this?  Come on now.) ~ Bolding is mine. I have been that minimum wage retail drone who couldn’t get a fucking tampon dispenser much less make a difference as to the politics of where I worked. Don’t be a dick to the people just trying to pay rent they can’t do anything for you or about the situation. And quite frankly most of those people don’t make enough money to give a fuck what you’re pissed off about. Also can I just say that calls for boycotting almost always do little more than really piss me off. The Target thing for instance. Yes what they did really sucks. However, there are some things that I cannot afford other places and it’s easier for me to get to Target. And YES sometimes I shop at fucking walmart because sometimes I need some cheap panties or pants or socks or all of thee above along with some shit for my kitchen. And I swear to fluffy bunnies the next time someone questions my ethics or politics about things like this I’m going to start yelling. If you have economic might yay for you. I don’t and please don’t fuck with me about it. /end angry.
